Typewise vs Intercom Fin.
Fin is the most benchmarked AI support agent on the market, and it pushed the whole industry toward outcome-based pricing. If you are comparing AI support tools it belongs on your shortlist. Here is how the two differ on the things that decide it, and who each one is built for.
The short version.
Intercom Fin is the stronger choice if
you want the market’s most benchmarked AI agent inside a full modern helpdesk, you have or want a support team that will operate it, and, if you are a young VC-backed startup, their startup discount is genuinely generous.
Typewise is the stronger choice if
you are an established small business rather than a funded startup, you want simple published pricing instead of seats plus outcome fees plus qualifications, you would rather delegate support than operate an AI, and your customers’ data should stay in Europe.
At a glance.
Where each one is stronger.
Where Intercom Fin wins
- Benchmarked performance. Intercom publishes its numbers openly: around 76% average resolution, more than 7,000 teams, millions of resolutions a week. Very few vendors in this market publish performance at all.
- The full AI-era helpdesk. Fin lives inside a genuinely modern helpdesk with a strong agent Copilot. If you are building a support team and want best-in-class tooling around the humans too, Intercom is excellent at it.
- The startup deal. If you are under 15 people, VC-backed under $10M and not yet an Intercom customer, 93% off year one plus free Fin outcomes is one of the better deals in software. If you qualify, take it seriously.
Where Typewise wins
- Priced the same, startup or not. Fin’s cheapest door is a startup program with real gates: under 15 employees and under $10M funding. An established 12-person webshop that bootstrapped for eight years qualifies for nothing and lands on seat-based pricing. Typewise’s published plan, from $99 a month plus per resolution, is the same whichever you are.
- One number instead of four. Fin’s bill is seats, plus $0.99 per outcome, plus $9.99 per qualification, plus $35 per user for Copilot. Each piece is reasonable on its own; together they move every time your team does.
- Delegation, not operation. Intercom’s model assumes your team operates the AI, which is why they sell a Copilot to your agents. Typewise is built for the business with no AI person: it monitors, tests and improves itself, and hands off to you on sensitive cases.
- EU hosting, zero data retention. Conversations stay in Europe and never train anyone’s model. Under GDPR and the EU AI Act that is an architecture rather than a checkbox.
- Independent, and staying that way. Typewise’s roadmap is set by the people building it. Fin’s now sits inside Salesforce’s plan.
What you pay for.
Resolved end to end
Typewise handled the whole request. Full rate.
Partial hand-off
Typewise got part of the way, a colleague finished it. Half rate.
Not moved forward
Typewise did not resolve it. No charge at all.
Fin’s bill is built from four meters: seats, plus $0.99 per outcome, plus $9.99 per qualification, plus $35 per user for Copilot. Each piece is reasonable on its own, and together they move every time your team changes shape. Typewise is a flat plan plus one resolution meter, with no per-seat fee, and the meter only moves when something is actually resolved.

Questions, answered.
For small and mid-size businesses that want per-resolution pricing without seat fees, and an AI that runs itself rather than one your team operates, yes. For VC-backed startups that qualify for Intercom’s early-stage program, Fin’s discount is strong and worth weighing on price alone.
No per-agent seat fee. You are on a flat plan (from $99 a month, which includes a set number of users) plus a per-resolution rate: a request Typewise handles end to end is billed in full, one where Typewise got part of the way and a colleague finished it is billed at half, and a request Typewise did not move forward is not billed at all.
No, and that is the main design difference. Intercom sells a Copilot to your agents because its model assumes your team operates the AI. The platform monitors, tests and improves itself, and hands off to you on anything sensitive.
In the EU, with zero data retention for AI processing. Typewise is a Swiss company and remains independent; Intercom is a US company being acquired by Salesforce.
